Newly installed sod usually takes about 2-3 weeks to root well. During this time, keep the sod moist and avoid walking on it. After 2-3 weeks, you can gently pull on the grass to check if it has rooted. If you feel resistance, the sod has likely taken hold.
What's the best time of year for sod installation?
The best time for sod installation is during the growing season when temperatures are mild. In Northeast Wisconsin, late spring (after the last frost) and early fall are ideal.
